Romantic Wedding Day Fragrances

TOM FORD Orchid Soleil

There’s nothing like the smell of romance in the air! If you’re engaged, chances are you’ve been enjoying your share of romantic roses and fragrant lilies. But when it comes to finding the perfect scent for your wedding day it’s not always the most glamorous of experiences. If you don’t wear perfume on a regular basis and haven’t fallen in love with one that makes you feel absolutely beautiful when you wear it, no worries, my bride-to-be! As the former business manager of one of the finest elite fragrance brands, I’ve got you covered. Here are a few tips and suggestions for how to choose the perfect scent from some of the most romantic wedding day fragrances.

MISS DIOR

Though I’ve always enjoyed the scent of a deliciously sweet, yet light perfume, it wasn’t until last year that I started wearing it every day! One problem I ran into was allergies. After finding my first favorite scent I kept getting sick and that’s when I realized I was allergic to some perfumes. If you happen to run into this problem as well, but insist on wearing perfume as I do, try spraying it on your clothes instead of your skin, or your back instead of neck.

When searching for a scent you love, it can be a bit challenging so first I recommend shopping where the experts are. Shopping in high end department stores will increase your chances of working with an expert as well as choosing a premium fragrance that is sure to suit your exquisite taste. The associates you see walking the aisles in department stores are not just there to simply sell another bottle but are also trained to understand different types of fragrances and scents, and what makes one better than the other. They know the key notes (ingredients) that make up a fragrance and can help you understand the types of scents you’re most attracted to – warm, cool, sweet, spicy, floral, green/earthy, woodsy, citrus, light, soft, or something more robust.

Once you’ve decided on the types of fragrances you love, you’re expert will be able to make suggestions for you. It’s a good idea to start off by spraying a scent on a fragrance card and give it a little while to dry down as this is how you’ll know what it smells like once it settles. When you find a scent you love, it’s time to try it on your skin. In between trying a new scent clear your nasal passage with some coffee beans. This helps keep you from being overwhelmed with all the different smells (especially the less favorable) and prepare you for the next go-round.

Basil & Neroli Cologne

I’ve come to love sweet, soft, floral fragrances, especially those with rose. I favor scents with citrus notes such as raspberry and grapefruit, and don’t mind a little bit of spiciness from time to time. Whatever you choose be sure it’s something you and your significant other will enjoy. You’ll know because you feel a little more beautiful and everyone around you will take notice too!
