A Rustic Elopement in Grapevine, TX

Simone and Devin’s story began in August 2018 with two things: a pool party and a brawl. Devin’s side of the story is a fight broke out in the middle of a pool party. He started looking for his friend while Simone ran toward safety, and somehow they found each other. Simone’s version of when they met is she was at a pool party with her girls when she walked past a mystery man. They locked eyes, but she kept walking.  A fight created the perfect moment for her to approach him, so she stood next to him and sparked a conversation. The couple have since come to the agreement that it was fate. Four years later, Simone and Devin said, “I do,” in a dreamy, intimate elopement ceremony captured by Wolf and Rose Photography and previously featured in the summer 2022 issue of Black Bride Magazine.

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day. Include your most memorable moment.

Deciding to elope was the best decision we’ve ever made. No stress or chaos. Just love. If we had to choose a word to describe our union, it would be POWERFUL.

Our most memorable moment was when we held hands and stood in the freezing water. It defied all logic, but made the most sense. We felt like we were the only two people in the world.

Wedding song, explain choice for song:

Our violinist caught Covid, so we did not have any music during our elopement. We chose “Blue Dream” by Jhené Aiko because it was the first song we bonded over in our relationship.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Building a life together.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Getting married is a beautiful process. Remember that it’s your day! Don’t allow stress to ruin your experience.
