Lauren and Winton met through mutual friends in 2020 and began dating in 2021. Their wedding took place on Juneteenth—June 19, 2025—and it was held at the Chicago History Museum. The day was a stunning tribute to Black Excellence! From the setting to the details—everything was intentional, elegant, and deeply rooted in meaning.
Lauren & Winton chose this day not just to say “I do,” but to honor where they come from and to make a statement about the kind of love they want to build: one grounded in family, pride, and freedom.
Instead of a traditional reception with expected formalities like parent dances or grand entrances, the couple chose something refreshingly different. They rented out Kashmir, a chic cocktail bar, and hosted a relaxed celebration that was all about connection, laughter, and joy. It was the kind of celebration that encourages you to pause, take it all in, and simply enjoy the moment.

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day.
Our wedding day was a whirlwind of excitement, emotion, and deep gratitude. From the moment the day began, we felt a mix of joy and nerves—anxious in the best way, knowing something incredibly meaningful was about to unfold. Grounded in love and anchored by our promises to each other, we were able to fully embrace each moment. What made it all the more unforgettable was the presence of our family and friends. Their support, laughter, and love wrapped around us like a warm embrace, reminding us that this wasn’t just our day—it was a shared celebration of community, connection, and the beginning of something beautiful.
Wedding song: the bride and groom opted out of a first dance. However, their songs of choice for the ceremony embodied their personalities and love for one another.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
Something Winton and I look forward to most is simply doing life together—embracing new adventures, building a lasting legacy, and creating a beautiful family rooted in love, faith, and joy.

Congratulations to the happy couple! We wish them a lifetime of wedded bliss.
