Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day.

As two people of Jamaican heritage, celebrating our marriage in our ancestral home was a labor of love rooted in a vision of beauty, fun, and authenticity. However, our plans were tested just three months before the wedding when Hurricane Melissa devastated much of the island, shifting our focus toward recovery efforts and community support. Ultimately, we chose to stay the course to honor our local vendors and the resilient spirit of Jamaica, giving our celebration a much deeper sense of purpose than we ever could have anticipated.

This spirit of adaptability defined our wedding day, even when a sudden downpour forced our outdoor ceremony to move inside the historic Rose Hall Great House. Our family and vendor team worked seamlessly to transform the space, embodying the very warmth and determination that makes our culture so special. Looking back, the challenges of both a hurricane and a thunderstorm only made our union more meaningful; as the saying goes, a “wet knot is harder to untie,” and ours was sealed by the very elements that proved our resilience.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

The last five years have been quite an adventure. Together, we’ve navigated a global pandemic, pursued our educational goals, moved across state lines, explored new corners of the world, and embraced all the uncertainty that comes with building a life together. Through every challenge and milestone, we’ve learned that there’s nothing quite like having a true partner by your side. As we look ahead, we’re excited for whatever comes next—continuing to reach for the stars while holding each other down, and continuing to figure it all out, together.
