Carolyn and Louis began talking in the summer of 2020 through online dating. “Our early conversations were as easy then as they are now. I had a feeling then that this felt different, but as time would have it she needed to go away for work for a few months. So with that uncertainty looming, things started to temper down between us. Months passed, and when we least suspected it, our paths crossed again.”
This time, Carolyn was back home again with plans on staying around for a while. They picked back up where they left off and Louis knew he needed to take the initiative to make sure they gave this thing a shot. Engagement story
We were coming up on our three-year anniversary and I knew I wanted to make this one more special than the last. I downplayed it to Carolyn, but I had something up my sleeve when I casually threw out that we should take a short trip to Saint Augustine. We spent the day touring the town and learning about attractions before we were due to go to the location where the proposal would happen.
Following those activities we had time for a nap, after that nap I told her the hotel we were staying in was throwing a happy hour and we were invited. She asked me, “Do we have to go?” and I half-jokingly assured her that we did. When we arrived, I parked down the street so we could walk up and not ruin the surprise. There wasn’t a happy hour waiting for us, it was a gazebo decorated with white drapes, lanterns, red candles shaped into a heart and a sign that read “Marry Me”. As I walked her into it she still didn’t realize it was for her until I took a knee and proposed. She said yes as fast as anyone could and the rest is history.
What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?
Carolyn: I’m most excited about seeing his face as I’m walking down the aisle in my white dress, and finally getting to say, “I do”.
Louis: I’m looking forward to the moment that I can finally see her, in her dress, as she walks down the aisle as my fiancée for the last time. I’m also excited to hear the officiant say they now pronounce us husband & wife.
