It all began in 2014 inside Howard University’s Founders Library, where Calvin first noticed Ebony at the circulation desk—focused, driven, and clearly someone to take seriously. After a few charming attempts, Ebony agreed to spend time together, and a classic Howard love story was born. Their first unofficial date included Pizza Hut, Calvin serenading Ebony on his guitar, and long conversations that set the tone for a deep, lasting connection.
As the years rolled by, their relationship grew through long distance, demanding careers, and life’s biggest challenges. Ebony pursued law school while Calvin expanded his business ventures, traveling tirelessly to support her along the way. Through moves, milestones, and moments of loss, their bond only strengthened. After eight years together, Calvin proposed in New York, and now grounded in faith, resilience, and unwavering love—Calvin and Ebony are ready to begin their next chapter. Engagement Story:
On their anniversary, Calvin surprised Ebony with an unforgettable night that unfolded like a dream, beginning with a luxury hotel stay at The One Hotel in Brooklyn and a private chauffeur, complete with free-flowing champagne, who whisked them through the city for a series of intimate experiences, including a stunning private dinner at a luxury rooftop restaurant on Billionaires’ Row.
Later that evening, as they arrived back at the hotel, Calvin gently asked Ebony to put on a blindfold; stepping out of the car, he asked, “Do you trust me?” and she replied, “With my whole heart.” He carefully led her inside as photographers secretly captured every moment. When Calvin removed the blindfold, Ebony opened her eyes to fresh red rose petals strewn everywhere. A live saxophonist playing their song, “Best Part,” and breathtaking views of the city skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge. As she turned, she found Calvin on one knee, a tear falling as he spoke words that became inaudible in her shock and awe, until she heard, “Will you marry me?” Overcome with joy, excitement, and an overwhelming wave of love, Ebony said yes.
The next morning still felt surreal, and Ebony asked if Calvin had spoken with her father, who was critically ill at the time; Calvin shared that he had received her father’s blessing, as well as the support of her mother and sisters. Months later, when Ebony’s father passed away, that moment meant even more, leaving her deeply grateful that he was able to give his blessing, a gift she will cherish forever.
