Flashback Friday: Real Weddings {Basketball Love in Texas}: Brittany & Keith! – Blackbride.com

Sometimes true love takes a little divine intervention and a meddling mother who means well to bring love to your doorstep. Brittany and Keith met in 2005 after Keith's mother saw Brittany in a wedding and thought she would be a good match for her son.  Brittany initially thought Keith's mother was a little crazy, but after meeting him she knew he was the perfect match! Two years after they said "I -do" in front of family and friends at the Villa Antonia in Austin, TX, Brittany and Keith are still madly in love!  Check out their lovely wedding day captured by Ivy Weddings !

Bride: Brittany Langford/Housewife

Groom: Keith Langford/Professional Basketball Player

Place of residence: Austin, TX

Wedding date: 8/6/11

Honeymoon Destination: Antigua

Engagement story:

Initially, Keith was going to propose during one of his basketball games. During the team’s run-out, the dancers were going to do a routine to Beyonce’s Single Ladies and he was going to run into the stands and propose. His team wasn’t able to get the opposing team’s approval (they said it would be a distraction) so he proposed at dinner in Moscow, Russia, in a restaurant overlooking the city. It was very intimate and simple, but the emotion behind it was so special and it was perfect for me.

What makes your love special?

What makes our love special is that we were able to survive 3 years of long distance to get where we are today. While I was in Undergrad at the University of Texas, Keith was playing ball in Italy. The long distance was tough but as the saying goes,…distance makes the heart grow fonder. I racked up a lot of frequent flyer miles and he racked up expensive phone bills but it was definitely worth it in the end.

From the Bride:
My wedding day was amazing. I remember being so calm and at peace beforehand. In that moment it wasn’t about the dress or the cake, it was about marrying the man of my dreams and the commitment we were about to make together.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Starting a family. We both come from split families so we look forward to raising a family together

Wedding Details:

I loved the wedding planning process. I was on the computer the night of the proposal trying to decide colors J I hired a planner a year out, bought tons of bridal magazines, went to wedding fairs, and really tried to enjoy the process. We wanted our wedding to be special and enjoyable for our guest so we hired a cigar roller, gelato bar, photo booth, and those things created a fun moving environment. They were able to take home the cigars and flip books as favors.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Take a moment to take it all in. The day can be a bit overwhelming so take a small private moment with each other to reflect on what you just accomplished. It all goes by so fast so live in the moment.

And hire a good photographer!  Pictures/video will be all you have after the day is over.

We wish you both many more years of wedded bliss!
