Nakia and David first met over 10 years ago through mutual friends. Although the two didn't really speak outside of the realm of pleasantries, they would later reconnect and forge a true friendship and genuine interest in each other. Proposal Story-From the Groom:
I knew that because it was Christmas Eve a lot of things would not be open, but I knew no matter what restaurants would remain open. A month before Christmas I already had the ring, and set up the plan of how I was going to do it. I called my best friend up and told him that I wanted him to set up a fake lunch so I could propose at a certain place. I am usually always late so I acted like I was running late and it made us late, Nakia hates being late by the way. So by this time she had already fell into my secretive plan! After we were running 10 minutes behind the family lunch, I had Tommy call me on my phone to give me a “fake” “hey where are you, we are all waiting on you so we can be seated.” Nakia heard this and fell deeper into my trap. I already called up my photographer/videographer and had him hide behind the building. So as we are walking into the space I made us more late by tying my shoes. At this time, Nakia was ready to take my head off because we were running late, little did she know when she turned around we were at the place where I would get down on one knee and propose.
What makes your love special?
I feel that we both are very similar, yet very different in so many things. Kia helps me do so many things better and gives me the confidence I need to be able to become a better person. I love her for the woman that she is and how she loves her family and she makes me stronger and happy.
What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?
I am looking forward to everything, the entire day. Knowing that I will be the luckiest man in the world to marry such a good woman and how kind spirited she is and spending the rest of my life with her, makes me look forward to the entire day.
