Real Weddings {Bahamas}: Keneisha & Roosevelt! – Blackbride.com

Keneisha and Roosevelt didn't have to look far for true love.  Keneisha and Roosevelt had been next-door neighbors for years, but had never formally met. As luck would have it, the day they finally met was the day before Keneisha was preparing to relocate to Orlando, Florida to work and attend school. Nonetheless, the two neighbors exchanged email addresses and phone numbers and began dating long distance. They're long distance love affair lasted for a total of six years and finally culminated with a dream wedding at the Pelican Bay Hotel, on the beautiful Island of Freeport, Bahamas. Check out their elegant, black and white nuptials captured by Lyndah Wells of Lyndah Wells Photography!

Bride: Keneisha Alexandra Fowler-Major, 26, Housewife/Baker

Groom: Roosevelt Major Jr.

Place of residence: Freeport, Bahamas

Wedding date: 4/27/13

Honeymoon Destination: Exuma, Bahamas and Orlando,Florida

Engagement story:

"Since my husband and I lived apart, he bought an engagement ring for me and had me pick it up. Our routine was to use Face Time every evening to correspond before going to bed. The day that I picked up my ring he asked for my undivided attention as he “formally” asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I would never have thought that I would be proposed to via video chat but it was more special than I could have ever imagined."- Keneisha

What makes your love special?

Our love is special because we have lived in two different countries for our entire relationship. We have had to travel back and forth as much as we could to spend time together. Relationships can be trying, so distance makes it even harder at times. Against all odds, we are here today and about to solidify our commitment to each other.

 From the Groom:

Our wedding was a day that I will never forget. Having my friends and family there in support and most of all seeing my wife come down the aisle looking as stunning as ever!

From the Bride: I felt so royal, as if I was getting dressed to go to a ball at Buckingham Palace.  I was so excited to walk down the aisle and to see how everything came together.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

I’m looking forward to growing in love and growing old with him. I cant wait to start a family and to create a warm, happy home for all of us.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day: Stay calm! No wedding is absolutely perfect so don’t waste time critiquing and nit-picking everything. Before you know it, the day will be over so take time to spend it with your loved ones. Have a good time.

Congratulations to the lovely couple! We wish you many more years of wedded bliss!
