Traceen and Lascelles met at Traceen's best friend's birthday party in 2001 and have been together ever since. After 13 years of being together, the two finally decided to make their union permanent in front of their friends and family. Engagement story:
He proposed at his parents house at their annual Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange. While I was helping our daughter with her presents, Lascelles came up behind me with the ring in his hand. I could tell he was nervous as he put the ring on my finger. All of his family, mostly ladies, were all over us. It was really sweet to see him sweat a little, especially after being together for so long.
From the Groom:
I was truly humbled at seeing everyone as they were taking theirs seats. It was a great feeling seeing all those who wanted to share this day with us. I was upset that Traceen was late, I know she really wanted an outdoor ceremony. Every venue we looked at had to be outdoors accessible. And it was beautiful, she never got to see what I saw!!
From the Bride:
I felt good, other than being late, everything went as planned. In hindsight, I should have paid a little more attention to detail, but the day was so great I didn't notice until after the wedding. I will say, the day goes by so fast, you have to just enjoy the moment and I did that.
What makes your love special?
We believe it's our values, respect for each other and putting God and our family first. It is not easy but we are always working on it and as long as both are willing to continue to work on our love, relationship, we will be okay. At the end of the day, I know he has my back and I have his.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
Well, we did things a little different. We had our careers, house and children before we got married. So now we are just looking forward to enjoying it All. Watching our children grow and excel in life is really what it's all about for us right now. Traveling as a family is something that all 6 of us are looking forward to as well.
Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:
As I said before, the day goes by so fast, you really need to be in the moment. Have a support team on your day so you can do just that, enjoy "The Day".
