Nishira and Harold met in a math class at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fl. However, the details become a little skewed when it comes to the events that followed their chance meeting. Apparently there are two sides to this love story. Harold's version states that Nishira asked him to tutor her because she was interested in him. However, Nishira, recalls that they both had a difficult time understanding their math professor, as there was a language barrier. However, both Nishira and Harold can agree that they were both happy to have met each other. Although math brought them together, it would be their mutual love and respect for each other that brought them to the alter. Engagement story ( from the bride):
February 14, 2013 was no typical Valentine’s Day. I went to work and became so immersed in the high volume workload of an Assistant Principal that I totally forgot it was Valentine’s Day. Earlier in the workday, I was summoned to my office to open a package. My secretaries stared with a look of excitement and eagerness to see what was contained within the package. Each item in the package was a clue regarding the proposal. Although I was excited, I didn’t entirely process each clue as it was a crazy day at work. I received roses with diamonds, heart-shaped bamboo (Bamboo is symbolic of luck), a bedazzled heart with “I love you” monogrammed and there was the softest teddy bear and a box of chocolates. There was a special note from my sweetheart expressing his love. I hurried to leave work by the end of the day because we had an appointment to take pictures.
For some time now, we wanted to take some pictures together . Harold used this idea to plan the proposal. We were at the University of Tampa (absolutely beautiful scenery) taking lots of pictures. As we neared the end of our photo shoot, our photographer told us she needed more chemistry in the pictures. Unknown to me, "more chemistry in the pictures," was the cue for Harold to propose. If you know me, you know that I am competitive, so I was focused on the pictures and the chemistry. Harold looks up and I have this kool-aid smile as I'm prompting him to get it together. He began an intimate speech that was truly authentic to our personal journey. Afterwards, he asked me "Will you love me for the rest of your life and walk with me forever?" I said "of course". I made that statement because I thought he was trying to get the chemistry going. He preceded to get down on one knee and said in a clarifying manner "NISHIRA…I mean forever…will you marry me baby?" I said "yes" through my tears of joy.
Your best/most memorable moment:
Walking down the aisle and seeing my husband waiting upon me. His most memorable moment was watching me walk down the aisle. We became very emotional.
From the Bride:
During the ceremony, I felt like we were the only two people in the room. It was beautiful. My wedding was beyond my dreams. It was intimate and special. We partied all night long.
I walked down the aisle to an instrumental of Kenny Lattimore’s Beautiful Girl, played by the King High School Band. It was so emotional. It was like watching a scene from "The Best Man." We danced to the same song for our first dance. This song describes our journey and love.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
Spending the rest of our lives together and having lots of children.
