Real Weddings {Maryland}: Kimberlee & Jarrett! – Blackbride.com

Kimberlee and Jarrett met in 2003, through a mutual friend at a house gathering. Kimberlee had just got out of a relationship and was venting to friends. When Jarrett approached her at the house party she was not in the best mood and pretty much shot him down.  Months later Kimberlee unexpectedly found herself at another house party- at Jarrett's townhouse. She had no idea that the party she was invited to was going to be at the home of the man she shot down at a previous house party. However, this time was much different. Although Kimberlee wasn't looking for a relationship, the moment she locked eyes with Jarrett, she said "it truly felt like God spoke to me at that moment."  Jarrett contacted Kimberlee a few weeks later to go on their first date. The two have been inseparable ever since, 7 years and counting! Check out this "Casual Elegant" wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville, MD, shot by Sonny Wink Photography.

Engagement story :

It all started with what appeared to be a normal mini vacation on Memorial Day weekend in NYC to see Chris Rock on Broadway in, "The MotherF*$#er with the Hat". I suspected nothing! Saturday morning  Jarrett took me all around his old town where he grew up, saw his old middle school, high school, elementary school, old friend's houses and we even ate breakfast at this cute little deli that he used to go to after football practice. Then we headed over to his buddies house to hang out with him and his wife before we went into the city. We took the subway into the city for our Saturday evening downtown. We were staying at the Waldorf Astoria, a very beautiful hotel on Park Avenue. Since we chose to walk from Grand Central to the Waldorf on a very humid day I wanted to take a shower before we grabbed dinner; after my shower I laid my towel on ring box that was on the vanity, I totally didn't notice it, so  I began to get ready.  Jarrett thought I saw the ring box and was messing with me the whole time. Suddenly, I noticed a tiny box on the vanity. I asked him where the box came from . He said he didn't know what I was talking about; I was just in complete shock saying "do not play with me Jarrett, what is that"… I had to slightly turn my back as I walked over to the small box and opened it; and as I turned back, my fiance ( I love saying that! ) was down on bended knee asking me to marry him. I bursted into tears and said YES ! I went to my first Broadway show to see CHRIS ROCK, ENGAGED !!

From the Groom:

First, part of the morning was rather relaxing, hanging with my guys at the hotel before our time to take pre-ceremony pictures with the fellas.  I had to be the calmer so to speak during the ring fiasco as she was just a nervous wreck about where my ring could be at that point, but it all came together.  I was very anxious to see Kim, but not nervous at all.  She had picked a beautiful location for us to become one, and it was a very beautiful day.  I was excited and thankful the day had finally come to make her my wife.

Your best moment:

"For me, it was seeing my beautiful bride for the first time walk down the aisle to meet me, and become one.  It was like we were the only two people at the ceremony."- Jarrett

Advice for a Bride & Groom on their wedding day:

Remember the wedding is only one day.  Be sure to enjoy one another during the planning process, and during the wedding day itself.  It can be very overwhelming with all the guests, and family members so be sure to sneak away and have quiet time with yourselves.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We are looking forward to growing our family, and our legacy together.  As we embark on this new chapter we couldn’t be more excited about experiencing more life events together as one with God.
