Real Weddings {Mexico}: Sandra & Steeve! – Blackbride.com

Sandra and Steeve met in 2006 at Salem State University where they were both students. Sandra was in nursing school and Steeve was in business school. It took Steeve a couple of failed attempts before he would capture Sandra's heart. "Steeve wrote me a message on Facebook. I had no interest in him. He asked me out on a date a few times and I finally gave in and we had our first date at the Boston Aquarium." The two college co-eds have been together ever since. Sandra and Steeve celebrated their union at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Check out their chic beach nuptials captured by Del Sol Photography.

Engagement story {From the Bride}:

I had just returned from a friends wedding in Switzerland with my best friend Asmait and when we got back to Boston after being away for one week, Steeve wanted to plan a nice dinner because “ he missed me.”  We had dinner at Mortons SteakHouse in Bostons Waterfront area. For dessert Steeve ordered my favorite Crème Brûlée and the manager came out with my dessert on a tray covered and said “ we have a special dessert we’d love for you to try on the house. Inside the tray was my gorgeous engagement ring!  Steeve then got on his knees, and while stuttering he asked “will you marry me?" I thought it was a dream, and I screamed yes!  Our engagement was beautiful and intimate and so was our wedding. We got engaged on July 26th 2013 and married on July 26th, 2014.

The couple's most memorable moment:

Our most memorable moment was the tunnel vision we both spoke of during the ceremony when I (Sandra) walked down the aisle. All I saw was Steeve, not my guests, not the decor I didn’t even remember seeing or hearing the violinists.  (Steeve) I don’t remember anything but seeing her in her veil walking with her grandfather I felt so complete.

What makes your love special?

We understand each other without having to speak. We also share the same beliefs culturally and spiritually.

From the Groom:

The morning of the wedding my groomsmen and I went for a round of golf. I think I was more excited than Sandra, she spent the morning nervous about her hair and make up I heard.  I knew she’d come down that aisle looking as amazing as she does Mon-Fri. I was excited, I couldn’t wait to see her.

Favorite wedding detail:

Our favorite wedding details was our Metallic Dunes decor by celebrity designer Colin Cowie! It was elegant, chic and full of rich details.

First Dance:

We danced to Daan Junior Ave’w (With you) a Haitian Kompa song that just seemed like the most perfect love song of a couple that loved doing everything together, just like we do.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We are looking forward to traveling and seeing the world together and most importantly building a family together. Steeve is so caring, empathetic and patient I know he’ll be a wonderful father.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Do not compromise for anything less other than what you want and have always dreamed of. If small and intimate or a destination wedding is what you both want then do it. (Unless your family is paying for it all lol) Take time to enjoy each other, step outside or away from it all take a break. If you can and if you only want great pictures of your big day up on the internet and your friends and family to focus on the moment and not social media, we would completely advise all couples to have a no phones policy during this big day. Or kindly ask everyone to show you pics of videos before posting. (So worth it to wait on photographers photos, it is so much more exciting!)

Congrats to newlyweds Sandra and Steeve! We wish you many more years of wedded bliss!
