A Whimsical D.C. Love Story and Stunning GA Wedding

Janice and Kenny’s story began on a summer night in July 2022 at a mutual friend’s birthday party. While Janice was busy dancing and chatting, Kenny was immediately captivated, even sending a “wingman” to confirm she was single before making his move. His thoughtful, unexpected questions left her intrigued, and though she made him wait four days for a text back,

Kenny remained undeterred, quickly asking her on their first official date in Washington, D.C.Their first date was a charming series of mishaps involving a closed kitchen and a lost restaurant location, yet the pair turned the evening into a night of laughter and deep connection. They ended the night sharing a scooter ride through the rain—Kenny as the driver and Janice as the DJ—setting the tone for their adventurous future.

After making their relationship official on October 5, 2022, the couple chose to honor their favorite month by tying the knot on October 18, 2025. Share in the joy of their gorgeous walk down the aisle!

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day.

Like many couples, the planning process came with moments of stress. When you’re planning such a large celebration, it can sometimes feel like you’re orchestrating a huge event for everyone else while hoping everything comes together the way you imagined. Knowing that the most important part of the day was simply standing before God and committing our lives to one another made everything else fade into the background.

While the heart of the day was the covenant we made with each other, the joy of being surrounded by people who were genuinely happy for us made the entire celebration even more meaningful. Looking back at the photos and videos still fills us with excitement and gratitude, because we’re reminded not only of the commitment we made, but of the incredible community that came together to celebrate the start of our marriage.

Wedding song, and the significance of the song:

We like to say we had two wedding songs – our first dance song and our final dance song of the night.  Our first dance song was “First Time” by Teeks, which immediately felt perfect when we first heard it. The emotion in the song captured the feeling of standing together in the moment and experiencing this milestone side-by-side for the very first time.

Our last dance song was “Wash 2” by Joe Bellion, which ended the night on a beautiful and intimate note. Certain lyrics like “You see me from a third-eye point of view…oasis in my arms… you fit me right” really expressed the feeling of truly seeing and embracing each other. We felt that both songs reflected the warmth and closeness we wanted our wedding to embody.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

After a very full and exciting past couple of years – buying our first home, stepping into new roles, getting engaged, planning our wedding, and now getting married – we’re really looking forward to slowing down a bit and settling into this new season together. We want to focus on building a steady foundation for our life and marriage, enjoying the rhythm of everyday life and spending intentional time together. We’re also excited about starting a family in the near future and embracing all that comes with this next chapter.
