Prevailing Love: An Engagement Session in Birmingham, AL

The year was 2010 when Hannah and Darius first met in a place that is not the most romantic– Walmart! Hannah laid eyes on Darius while he was there hanging out with his best friend.

“It’s interesting because I knew his best friend, and we were pretty cool in high school, but I never knew Darius. I believe later that same day, I messaged his best friend, and said, ‘Hey, who’s that guy you were with?? He’s kinda cute!’ After messaging back and forth, I gave his friend my phone number to give to Darius.”

The majority of Hannah and Darius’ relationship was long distance, and it was not the easiest for the 20 year olds to navigate. After a few years of being apart, they realized that we did not want to continue life without each other. They reconnected and the rest was history! Engagement story

Darius: First, I’ll start with mentioning how nearly impossible it is to surprise her with anything, because she’s so inquisitive! It was really a joint effort between her best friend(Brandi) and me, in trying to conjure family and friends outside one of our favorite restaurants, Michael’s.

I ended up having to stall for time in the bathroom, until everything was set up, and asked her to just take a walk with me(across the street @ Railroad Park), to walk off some of the food we had eaten. I’m pretty sure she knew something was up by then, but as we got closer, she was able to make out some of the silhouettes of the family and friends that showed up. I have never been so nervous a day in my life!

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Hannah: Walking down the aisle, to see him waiting for me, along with seeing all of our family and friends that will be in attendance, to celebrate our special day!

Darius: Marrying my best friend and accomplishing one of our shared goals.
