Romantic Elegance: A Wedding in Atlanta, GA

Acantha and Sheriff crossed paths at Emory University in Atlanta, GA where Acantha was an undergrad, and Sheriff was attending grad school. Sheriff was on Facebook searching for people to connect with on campus, and he came across Acantha’s profile. He slid into her DMs, and a nine-year friendship began. They dated other people during that time, but once they were both single, Sheriff made his move. After dating for two years, he proposed to Acantha with their close family members in attendance. Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day. Include your most memorable moment.

There were a few hiccups, but thankfully we had a great team of vendors and family and friends that stepped up. The nerves didn’t kick-in for Sheriff until he waited for Acantha to walk down the aisle. Our most memorable experience was the first look.

Wedding song, explain choice for song:

“Bacchanalist” by Precision Productions and Kerwin DuBois. This song is a classic and always brings back great memories of the times we visited reggae/soca parties. “Sere” by Spinall & Fireboy DML is our favorite song and a beautiful depiction of our relationship.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We’re looking forward to supporting each other’s businesses — Acantha’s interior design business (Designs by Acantha) and Sheriff’s custom suit business (Unique Threads Custom Suits). We also have plans to grow our family.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Be patient and enjoy the moment. Also, have a planner or day of coordinator to ensure that the day goes smoothly.
