We caught up with Motions Celebrity Hair Stylist Ursula Stephen for a few expert style tips for the red carpet. Check out her responses below.

What are some of your favorite hair trends of the moment that would be perfect for a holiday party or gathering?

I’m loving the lob right now! Mix in some loose, effortless waves and your look is perfect for a holiday party. The look is pulled together and sexy but looks effortless.

The winter months can bring havoc to hair. What are some ways to prevent hair shedding and damage during the winter months?

The best way to combat shedding during the winter months is by using a protein treatment! It's the 9-1-1 of hair care and works instantly to stop breakage and restore strength to the hair. You can use this once a week or every other week. If you’re a natural girl, using a pre-wash treatment before getting your hair wet is a great way to prevent breakage or shedding in the shower. Motions Pre-Wash Detangling Butter allows a comb to slip through your hair without breaking curls and sets you up for an easy wash day.

What are your top three must-have styling tools and products?

I always have a flat iron, a dry shampoo and the Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade.

Most women have a “day-to-day” look.  What are some easy ways to switch things up for a more glamorous look?

Doing the total opposite to what you normally do is a great way to switch it up for the holidays. If you normally wear your hair bone straight, add some texture with a curling wand. If you normally wear is with natural texture try a sleek look and so on. Even simply changing the side you part your hair gives a new look. If you don’t have time, I love the look of a slightly messy top knot.

You’ve worked with so many celebrity clients, both on and off the red carpet.  Are there any “quick fixes” or “secret weapon” tips to share with us to help maintain hair on a night out or at a big event?

Quick fix- lip gloss on fly aways! I've done this numerous times. If I'm on the red carpet and I forget pomade, I will get clear lip gloss from the make up artist. Works every time.

Special thanks to Celebrity Stylist, Ursula Stephen for such great advice!  You can find Motions Salon Hair Care products at most food and drugstores, or online at drugstore.com. Also, check MotionsHair.com for more information on product details and tips.

Whether you check in with your stylist or try for yourself, we’re sure you will end up red carpet worthy using Motions Salon Hair Care.
