Courtyard Wedding Styled Shoot

Fall is here, which means temperatures are getting cooler – but, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a picturesque outdoor wedding. This beautiful wedding styled shoot is a sophisticated mix of nature and city architecture. We love the ethereal cream and pastel palette with silver accents, classic floral arrangements and crystal elements that are juxtaposed with the lush scenery. The artistically designed turquoise wedding cake is another detail we appreciated greatly, which was captured by A Little Bit of Whimsy Photography.

Andrew Roby Events, a Maryland-based wedding planning and design company, teamed up with a group of talented vendors to create this courtyard wedding, which showcases elements like vintage place settings, elegant bird cages and a gorgeous garden. Here’s what Andrew from Andrew Roby Events had to say about the inspiration behind their styled shoot:

“For this particular style shoot, we wanted to showcase the excitement that comes with having an intimate wedding in a courtyard versus a traditional ballroom. There are many couples that love the city landscape, but also want to have an outdoor element that isn’t truly a barnyard or garden. A courtyard experience, we feel, gives them the option to have the outdoor element right in the city they love without having to travel far for it. This garden we used for our shoot is a simple, yet elegant venue that we threw a few twists into, like with the wedding cake. We hope you all like what you see.”

Shoot location: Morrison-Clark Inn, Washington D.C.

Shoot theme: Vintage outdoor setting

Color combinations: Pink, Yellow, Grey, Soft Blues, White

Favorite detail: The bird cages were our favorite, but we also loved using the botanical antique plates on top of the stardust base plates. Etched stemware gave more of a vintage feel for the shoot, which added a touch of elegance. Being that this was meant for outdoors, we added bird cages as offset centerpieces along with miniature birds in glass to further tie in a garden feel.

Please share unique details from your shoot:

We had a vintage chandelier from Vintage Affairs. We wanted to use a different type of cake versus just having a cake with identical layers, so we chose one that had different textures for each layer. We wanted the cake to be a true art piece topped with a pink mini peacock.

We can’t get enough of this gorgeous styled shoot. Share your favorite details in the comments below.
