Bridgette and Deon met in May of 2011 at a young adult Christian service in Dallas, Texas. The group went out to eat after service and Deon sat next to Bridgette in the last available seat at the table. Unbeknownst to Bridgette, Deon was waiting for the perfect opportunity to speak to her. Deon's plan worked perfectly because once they started talking they never stopped. Bridgette recalls their first conversation being very easy – "It was like I had known him for years." It was June 27, 2012 my 28th birthday. What was exciting about this day was for my 27th birthday, Deon went above and beyond doing everything to make that day special and everyone asked him how he was going to keep the momentum going for the next year. He was really going to have to go above and beyond. Well, I didn’t know what he had planned but he said he had 3 surprises for me that day. The first surprise was dinner at a beautiful restaurant in the new Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas. The second surprise was a gift card to Barnes & Noble because I LOVE books. The third surprise was a carriage ride through downtown Dallas at night. It was a clear night, sky full of stars, weather beautiful. While riding on the carriage, he says, “Well, I know I told you I only had three surprises for you, but actually I have one more.” That is when he told the carriage driver to stop, and right there in the middle of downtown Dallas, he proposed! It was the best birthday ever and a dream come true! All I can remember is feeling this overwhelming feeling of joy and happiness as he said something like “I knew from our first date that I wanted to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you.” That’s when I said…YES!
What makes your love special?
God & Faith makes our love special. On our first date, Deon asked me a question. He told God, that his wife would answer the question in a certain way. He wanted to be CERTAIN when he found his wife. That night would turn out to be the turning point in our lives because, unknown to me, I answered the question the exact same way that he told God his wife would answer. On our second date, which happened to be the next day, God whispered in my ear while we were eating dinner, that Deon my husband. Only God could put his stamp of approval on such a big decision. I felt so much love and peace since being with Deon. My life has changed forever and it was not because of me but Gods’ grace, mercy and our faith in Him!
What was the theme for your engagement shoot?
Honestly, there was no theme. We just wanted to capture the purity of our love through our photos. Our photographers did an amazing job of capturing how we truly feel about each other.
