Real Weddings {Atlanta}: Jennifer & Sean! – Blackbride.com

When Jennifer and Sean first met, it was all business.  Sean founded an online magazine in January 2009, where Jennifer became a writer and later an editor. As Jennifer worked more with the magazine her friendship with Sean bloomed and soon became romantic. Eventually Jennifer moved to Columbus, where Sean was in law school, to pursue a Masters of Business Administration at The Ohio State University. And like they say in the movies, the rest is history! Check out their Modern Southern themed wedding, captured by Atlanta based wedding photographers Six Hearts Photography!

Bride: Jennifer Louise Walton, 29, Sr. Marketing Consultant, Nationwide Insurance

Groom: Sean Lamaut Walton Jr., 28, Managing Attorney, The Walton Firm

Place of residence: Columbus, OH

Wedding date: 9/1/13

Honeymoon Destination: Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rico

Engagement story:

The day that Sean proposed to me just so happened to also be the day that I graduated from business school with my MBA. He surprised me the night before by arranging a surprise dinner with my parents and inviting all of my closest friends from all across the country. I was completely oblivious and just so happy to see all of my friends. Needless to say, we had a great night of partying that night and so during my graduation I was sleepy, and maybe a bit cranky. Sean’s next surprise was a post-graduation party and cookout. When his family and friends arrived I thought they were just being nice and supportive, I still had no clue! Finally, after the party was in full-swing the then President of The Ohio State University, Gordon Gee walks through the door! He’s a celebrity in Ohio and I couldn’t believe he was at my party. He starts giving a great speech about how wonderful I am, and I don’t even realize that behind me Sean is on one knee. Finally, President Gee gets to the punchline, and he asks me if I would marry Sean! All I remember is collapsing to the ground. I was so shocked and excited I didn’t even see the ring until someone told me to put it on! The video we captured is great, and it went viral!

From the Groom:

The day was amazing. You think about how you view your wedding day unfolding and the love we felt from our family and friends did not let us down. I was very nervous, hoping everything unfolded perfectly and that the day went exactly how she wanted it to. I was actually so nervous that I felt physically ill. In the end once the ceremony was over, it felt amazing to know that I would be spending the rest of my life with the woman of my dreams and that I could let loose and party.

From the Bride:

I woke up that morning to a text from Sean: “I can’t wait to spend my life with you. I love you.” I was euphoric. It rained while we were getting ready, so I knew that my plans for a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony were shot. Before I could even get down about it my bridesmaids started blasting Beyoncé and promising me that my day would still be beautiful. Once the spirit of Bey came over me, the day was beyond perfect from that moment on.

Your best/most memorable moment:

Our Pastor had all of our guests stand up and take a Vow for us. Seeing all of them stand in support of us and say “I do” to taking care of us, loving us, and having our backs, was just overwhelming. To this day they remind us that they took “The Vow”!

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Seeing and changing the world together, we have big plans!

Favorite wedding detail:

The Food! People couldn’t stop raving about the food!

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Something will go wrong, but the event is just a party to celebrate the life you two will have. Don’t get caught up in the day, but get completely caught up in the love. You two love each other, and all of your guests are completely in love with y’all as well.

Congrats to newlyweds Jennifer and Sean! We wish you many more years of wedded bliss!
