Real Weddings {Colorado}: Nerissa & Tyler – Black Bride

The bus might have been running late for Nerissa Mitchell, but love was right on time when she met Tyler Schmeling at a crowded bus stop in 2005. The couple who has been inseparable since their chance meeting, celebrated their nuptials by stepping back in time for a 1920′s, mafia inspired affair. Dave Camara of Camara Photography captured each special moment of Nerissa and Tyler’s timeless celebration.

Bride: Nerissa Lenore Mitchell, 28, Shoe Designer for The 7th Door: House of Design

Groom: Tyler Paul Schmeling , 32, Freelance Artist and Owner of Double Edge Art Gallery

Location: Castle Rock, Colorado

Wedding Date: 03/29/2012

Honeymoon Destination: Denver, Colorado

The Engagement Story: “Tyler and I were engaged in November of 2010. He took me back to the place where we first met, and proposed at the bus stop beside a busy street. We planned to marry In March 2012, because March is the snowiest month in Colorado. I love the snow, and was hoping to have plenty for the wedding day. It was actually about 70 degrees!”

Their best moment: “Our best moment was our first look. Amidst the stress and craziness of the day, we were able to share a very special moment with just the two of us. I will never forget the look on his face when he saw me in my dress for as long as I live. “

From the Bride: “The first time that I saw him {Tyler}, I knew he was my future husband. When Tyler and I met, I was at a very difficult time in my life. I was a single mother, working and going to school, and Tyler came to my rescue. Just when I thought it was over, and there was no hope in finding love, there he was. Not only did he love and take care of me, but he did the same for my two-year-old son. When I met Tyler I had no car, no stable place to live and no hope. He is my angel. Together, we have come so far. We now have three beautiful children and so many blessings to be thankful for. “

Wedding details: “Our favorite wedding detail was our fabulous cake! It was seven tiers tall, and custom made to match the black chandeliers that adorned the historic Clock Tower. The flavor was strawberries and champagne and it was completely hand painted by the bakery. We had the entire 21st floor of the clock tower dedicated solely to the cake.”

From the Groom: “I’m so blessed to be able to call Nerissa my wife. I’ve never met a more wonderful, kind, smart, amazing person in my life. Our wedding gave me the chance to show everyone how much I love her. I’m so proud to call her my ‘wifey’.”
