Real Weddings {Indiana}: Kori & John! – Blackbride.com

Who said social media can't find you love? Kori and John met via Facebook in 2006. They shared mutual friends on Facebook and both attended Indiana State University. Their conversations on Facebook led to flirting and the two stayed in touch over the years. However, it wasn't until 2009 when John was visiting Indianapolis, helping his aunt move, that they decided to finally meet up.  "Even though this was the first time we actually met in person, we laughed and talked for hours like old friends," recalls Kori. The two Facebook friends lost touch after their first meeting but John came back a year later ready to "seriously pursue" his lady. A second date in Chicago in 2010 sealed the deal and they began dating long distance shortly after that. In March 2012, John packed up and made the move to Indianapolis to be closer to Kori, and the two love birds haven't been without each other since! Engagement story (From the Groom)

A week before I proposed, I told Kori I set up appointments for her to get her hair done, a manicure, and a pedicure. I told her this was some much needed pampering I wanted to give her before the start of her senior year in nursing school. At about 5 pm that Saturday evening, I called her and told her to wear a dress I bought her earlier that summer and to be ready at 7:45 pm. I told her we were going out, and to make sure she was ready on time, then I hung up on her! She immediately called me back and I told her not to ask any questions and just to be ready. She had no idea that I had already arranged a ride for her. So at exactly 7:45pm a limo service called her and told her he was waiting outside her house. The limo took her to the Conrad Hotel downtown Indianapolis to the Capitol Grille Restaurant. I was already at the venue and waiting outside to escort her into the restaurant. I had the wait staff seat us in a noisy section. After a while, I complained about the noise and asked to be moved. We were then escorted by the manager to a private room where I had her parents, her grandmother, her twin sister and her husband, her older sister, and cousin waiting. Everyone yelled surprise as we walked in. She was elated! After we greeted everyone, she sat down and I remained standing. I then began to say heartfelt words to each of her family members individually. After I gave her family my respects, I let Kori know how I felt about her, then I proceeded to get on one knee and asked her if she would do me the honor of being my wife! The evening was perfect, everything went exactly how I planned it, but I had one more surprise in store for my love. Once we got back to my place, I left a trail of rose petals leading to the dining room. Kori followed the trail to find "SHE SAID YES!" spelled out in red rose petals on the table. What a night! She was so excited and I was glad that I was able to make that day special and one she would never forget.

From the Bride:

One word that accurately describes my wedding day is “magical.” My wedding was like a fairytale and I am truly blessed to say that I had no major mishaps on my special day. From the start of my day, I felt God’s presence and love surrounding me. All 9 of my bridesmaids stayed over the night before and were my hands/feet during my entire day to ensure I had an amazing wedding experience.

Memorable Moment (from the bride):

One of my most memorable moments was when we exchanged our heartfelt personal vows to one another. It was spiritual and emotional. My heart melted with each word uttered from his mouth. I could truly feel the love and sincerity in his voice while looking into his eyes.

From the Groom:

The whole day actually went perfectly. It was really amazing to all my close friends there for support. That day felt like a movie. I was able to enjoy each moment I had with my friends. I just couldn’t wait to see my future wife. I knew she would look perfect. That was the most peaceful day I had in months. I just want to relive it over again.

What makes your love special?

Our love is special because it is firmly rooted in God’s love and most of all it is selfless. The true love shared between us cannot be matched by any other feeling. The way we love each other radiates through to people that don’t even know us. I absolutely love the way we pray together, we both know and agree that taking our issues to God only draws us closer to each other.

Memorable Moments (From the Groom):

My most memorable moment was the way she looked at me during our first dance. As I looked through our pictures, just to see the love and peace that took over her made my heart smile. When she is happy and at peace, my spirit can rest.

Wedding song: Jennifer Hudson, Giving Myself

This song truly reflects our relationship. Just as the song states…my husband is the first man I completely felt free with. I can truly be myself around him without judgment. He makes me feel like I am the most beautiful woman in the world. We also chose this song because it personifies the promise I made to God to save myself for marriage.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Getting closer, growing together, building a family, creating memories, and really cleaving to each other.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

For the bride: Truly take in every precious moment of your special day. The day will go by so fast so enjoy your day to the fullest and let yourself be pampered so you can feel like the princess you are.  If something doesn’t go as planned, don’t let it stress you out. Focus on the fact that your day is a celebration of Love and the union between you, your partner, and God!

For the groom:  Have as much fun as you can, document moments with your friends. Laugh, focus on the peaceful moments of the day, reflect on how far you have come with your lady, pray, and enjoy the moment. Try not to miss anything!

Congrats to Kori and John! We wish you many more years of wedded bliss!
