Real Weddings {North Carolina}: Juliann & Travis! – Blackbride.com

Juliann and Travis have been together for 13 years!  The two met the summer of 2000 at Burger King in North Carolina. Juliann was 16 and Travis was 18 at the time. Juliann remembers the cashier that took her order telling her that the guy in the back wanted  her phone number. "I rolled my eyes and said no. But had a change of heart, and wrote my number down," said Juliann.  Travis called a few days later and the two decided to go to the movies. Although that was there only date that summer, they kept in touch with daily conversations. Sadly their instant connection was cut short when Travis moved to Georgia at the end of the summer to go to college. Travis and Juliann eventually lost contact, but thanks to social media, in 2009  Travis contacted Juliann via Facebook. "Since then, we have never missed a day talking to each other," says Juliann. Juliann eventually moved to Atlanta and the two love birds have been inseparable since. Check out their elegant nuptials captured by Dajuan Jones of  In His Image Photography !

Place of residence: Atlanta, GA

Engagement story :

In November 2010, Travis suggested that we go home to North Carolina for Christmas that year. I said okay, and we were looking forward to seeing our families. It all began 5 days before Christmas. Travis had the idea of giving each other small gifts four days prior to Christmas and then on Christmas day exchanging our main gift. We begin exchanging gifts, each day being something different but nothing to give a hint as to what was to come. However, on Christmas Eve, I received a gift card with wedding bands on the front, and I not putting two and two together was completely oblivious as to what would transpire on Christmas Day. Travis arrived at my mom’s home early afternoon, and he handed me a large box. I begin to open it and noticed it was a jewelry box. He told me I needed to take the box out of its packaging andlook inside. At that point, I knew instantly what was happening.  I did as I was told and there was the RING!! When I looked back up at him he was already on bending knee. We were surrounded by our family.

From the Groom:

I simply wanted to make sure my soon to be wife was happy. I was involved as much as possible. I was present at every visit and/or phone call meeting we had with vendors. As long as she was happy, I was happy. I felt like the luckiest man in the world that day because I was marrying my queen!

From the Bride:

Our wedding experience was truly wonderful. We had a wonderful wedding planner that made the entire experience stress free. I enjoyed every moment from finding a venue, selecting invitations, choosing the décor, the food and cake tasting and especially saying yes to the dress!! The day of the wedding, I was a bit nervous but excited!  I knew it would be a wonderful day. All my nerves went away once I saw my groom waiting for me down the aisle.

What makes your love special?

We bring out the best in each other. We encourage, motivate and inspire each other. We dance without music, we laugh at each other’s corny jokes, we just simply love being around each other, spending quality time, enjoying the simple things.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Relax and enjoy cherish every moment, it goes by so fast.
