Real Weddings {South Carolina}: Kimberly & Jordon! – Blackbride.com

Kimberly and Jordon met almost 4 years ago in December of 2010, in Charleston, SC. They were both attending a large community service event called Convoy of Hope, and they ended up sparking a friendly conversation. Later that night Kimberly received a Facebook message from Jordon, saying how nice it was to meet her and he was hoping they could continue their conversation soon. That one message led to many dates between the two, and eventually led to their beautiful relationship and marriage. Check out their "Southern Elegance," themed wedding, captured by Hope Ballenger Photography!

Bride: Kimberly Renee Graham Gilmore, 26, Project Management

Groom: Jordon Anthony Stowe Gilmore, 26, Biomedical Engineer

Place of residence: Anderson, SC

Wedding date: 7/26/14

Honeymoon Destination: Charleston, SC

Engagement story {From the Bride}:

It was July 19th and I was heading from Charleston, SC to Charlotte, NC for Jordon’s family reunion. He asked me to get there a little early because he made dinner reservations. Once I arrived we made our way to a swanky little jazz restaurant downtown called Delta’s. The cuisine was soul food and the atmosphere was a live jazz and R&B band. We sat, danced, and ate! After leaving Delta’s we went on a walk through downtown Charlotte and hung out at the Epi Center. Around midnight we headed back to our car, but before doing so we walked through a beautiful courtyard and took pictures. As we left the courtyard, I spotted someone that looked like my dad. I did a double take and saw that it was my dad! Then next I saw my mom and two of my sisters! “What is going on?” I asked laughing and confused! Why would my parents drive all the way from Charleston, SC to Charlotte, NC at midnight? Before I could even wrap my thoughts around the question, Jordon grabbed both hands and got down on one knee. He spoke the sweetest words to me and asked me if I would marry him. I screamed “YES”! Little did I know Jordon also had some of his friends in the courtyard and areas downtown taking candid pictures of us the whole time!

Your best/most memorable moment:

{Bride}: My most memorable moment was when the doors opened to the chapel, my father tucked his arm in mine and we walked down the aisle together. I was so nervous and my father was so calm and collected! Once we got the altar, the look I received from Jordon will stay with me for the rest of my life.

{Groom}: Definitely seeing my bride for the first time in her dress. WOW. She was gorgeous. I was nervous but once we held hands and locked eyes, everything in the world was right.

From the Bride:

My wedding experience was amazing! Mostly because all of our close family and friends were there to celebrate in the fun. You could feel the love and support from our guests, and it meant so much to us. I had envisioned this moment for years, and to finally see it come together so beautifully left me speechless. I smiled so much on this day that my jaws were sore! This is a day that I will always remember, down to the small details. My husband and I were very blessed to have such beautiful wedding filled with loving family and friends.

 From the Groom:

My wedding experience was great but it felt like it went by too quick. We spent so much time planning, anticipating, and being nervous, and the ceremony itself was probably only 20 minutes long. My wife looked so beautiful though and everything she planned went great, so I have nothing but positive memories about my big day!

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We are most looking forward to building a great life together. We have both been successful individually and know together we will create a beautiful family and stronger relationship with God.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

For the bride, I would say don’t lose sight of what this day really was designed for! Focus on the fact that you are marrying the love of your life, and don’t get so engrossed with wedding favors and seating charts!
