A Luxe Wedding at the New Orleans Museum of Art

Cyntavia and Brandon originally met during high school, in 2008. They later reconnected during college via X, formerly known as Twitter, and have been together ever since. The couple tied the knot in a romantic wedding ceremony at the grand New Orleans Museum of Art, captured by Calvin Gavion Photography.

Bride: Cyntavia Thornton-Carter, 34, Director of Marketing

Groom: Brandon Carter, 35, Accountant

Photography By: Calvin Gavion Photography

Planning & Design: Elle Kay Events

Place of Residence: Houston, TX

Wedding Date: May 25, 2024

Wedding Location: New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), New Orleans, Louisiana

Wedding Theme/Motif/Inspiration: “Timeless Elegance with a New Orleans Flair.”

The motif was a harmonious blend of Southern charm and artistic sophistication. The white roses and baby’s breath evoked a classic, romantic aesthetic, while the New Orleans Museum of Art added an air of grandeur and refinement. The second line brought in the vibrant, celebratory spirit that New Orleans is famous for, symbolizing joy and unity. Serving beignets as dessert was a sweet nod to the city’s unique culinary culture, grounding the event in the local tradition.

Overall, our wedding was inspired by a desire to celebrate love in a way that honors New Orleans’ rich culture, combining timeless beauty with the city’s unmistakable vibrancy and charm.

Honeymoon Destination: Bahamas

On that day, we were filled with happiness, excitement, and a sense of calm, knowing we were embarking on this beautiful journey together. It was everything we could have dreamed of and more—a day we’ll cherish forever.

Wedding song, and the significance of the song:  Ceremony entrance song:  Bride: “Godspeed” by Frank Ocean; Groom: “Mr. Carter” by Lil Wayne; First dance song: “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar ft. H.E.R.

Our first dance song, *”Best Part”* by Daniel Caesar ft. H.E.R., holds a deep significance for us. The lyrics beautifully capture the essence of our love—being each other’s safe haven, source of joy, and true partner in life.
