Joy is a wedding planning website that caters to brides’ every need ahead of their big day. What started as an app for wedding pictures ultimately became one of the biggest wedding platforms thanks to co-founders Vishal Joshi, Dorian Bach, and Kaiwalya Kher.
Brides can use Joy for wedding registry, invitations, save-the-dates, and even hotel room blocks. The site provides expert advice on the most pressing wedding questions, including budget, venues, and honeymoon ideas. Over time, it has become a one-stop shop for all things wedding.

Client First
Clients are the foundation of Joy. It all started with co-founder Bach’s sister Amy, who struggled to find a wedding website that met her needs. With their tech background, Bach, Kher, and Joshi, who is also Joy’s CEO, built a custom website for Amy and soon began receiving requests from others to do the same. But while they were getting noticed for their web skills, they were new to the wedding industry.
Joshi opened up about Joy’s early days. “It was a massive humbling experience because if you start with a premise that you don’t know, it just naturally keeps you grounded because you just know you don’t know,” he said.
“At first we were listening to Amy. Then we were listening to our colleagues. Then we built a way by which the couples [could] talk with us.”
He was on the front lines of customer support, communicating one-on-one with customers and collecting feedback to improve the user experience. It all paid off. Joshi said that more than 250 million users have trusted Joy for their wedding planning.
Budget-Friendly
The platform offers a variety of budget-friendly products. Its wedding website alone is free to use, along with many other products. Joshi revealed the secret to keeping costs low for brides: taking a commission from vendors on the already-low discounts the platform offers.
“If you send invitations, you do save-the-dates, you do email communication, you do the schedule, the private schedule, you do websites, mobile app for your guests, all of that is free,” Joshi explained.

Customization
Joy’s multicultural team prides itself on providing personalized experiences for diverse brides in 150 countries. Brides can customize everything, from invitation themes to website fonts, all to fit cultural traditions and personal taste.
Joshi emphasized that brides are the focal point, which is why you won’t see much branding on the company’s products.
“Joy is very subtle,” said Joshi. “But you can literally just make [your products] however you want.”
“If you did your design by talking to ChatGPT, you can upload that too. You know what I mean? You can do whatever you want with Joy.”
