Southern Charm: A Wedding in Charleston, SC with New Orleans Flair

In March of 2020, Cynthia and Aaron met on the dating app, Bumble right before the pandemic hit.  Aaron was pursuing a second career as a lawyer and was finishing up his second year of law school. Cynthia was practicing as an OB/GYN near Myrtle Beach, SC. After meeting, they walked along the beach for three hours and recognized they shared a lot in common such as they both lived in Louisiana for some time, and they both enjoyed the outdoors and had a love for good food.

Three years later on April 8, 2023, Cynthia and Aaron tied the knot. Their initial plan was for an outdoor spring wedding, but the weather had other plans and the decision was made to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception indoors. It turned out even more beautiful than they could have imagined. Following a beautiful wedding ceremony, guests were amazed as the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. McCall entered the reception in New Orleans fashion with a second line band and decorative umbrellas featuring their custom crest, professions, and Greek organizations.

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day.

From the Bride: We planned our wedding in a total of 6 months, 3 of which was spent locating a venue. I was an extremely detailed oriented bride with a vision of how I wanted our 3- day wedding weekend to engage the senses of our wedding guests. It was such a wonderful experience to see all of our hard work come together in such an impactful and beautiful way. It was truly a time I will never forget.

From the Groom: Throughout the wedding planning process, I just tried to do everything I could to help my wife’s vision come to fruition. However, I did set hard boundaries regarding things that I wanted for our wedding too and to keep her from going overboard with our budget!

On our wedding day, I had nervous anticipation. After I walked down the aisle, waiting for the remaining wedding party to enter, I just relaxed and tried to soak up the moment and appreciate how beautifully everything turned out. My main focus was just keeping it together until I saw Cynthia. She was exquisite.

Wedding song, explain choice for song:

“Cheek to Cheek” by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. We immediately fell in love with the lyrics and the old classic feel it gave us.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We look forward to continuing to uplift and grow stronger individually and also together as a unit, as a family and within our community at large. We have a travel bug and love great food so we also look forward to eating our way around the world.
