On September 20, 2010, two incoming freshmen, Anaya and Wynton, attended their Ohio State Convocation, eager to begin their college journeys. As fate would have it, they happened to sit next to each other. Wynton turned to his left to introduce himself, and from that moment on, their story began. After taking their first photo together—a classic “O-H-I-O” pose with two friends as the “H” and “I”—their college experience began, along with a friendship that would turn into something far more meaningful.
Anaya and Wynton did not begin a romantic relationship until after graduation. They officially got together in September 2017, became engaged in October 2023, and have now been together for eight wonderful years. Get inspired by their romantic wedding in Atlanta, GA captured by LaJoy Photography.

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day.
Our wedding experience can best be described as “timing is everything!” From the planning process to the vendors we chose for ourselves, we did everything in service of being as minimally stressed and fully happy with the results as possible. To achieve this, we gave ourselves a longer timeline by choosing a summer 2025 wedding date despite our fall 2023 engagement; but that allowed us to enjoy the planning process instead of rushing through it – it also allowed us to get every single thing we wanted without compromising. After being together for so long and having a longer engagement; overall, our wedding day felt equal parts relaxed and exciting! Relaxed because we knew every detail was handled by our amazing team; and exciting because we were ready to finally cement our union and also party! There were no nerves or worries, just a smooth day with loved ones and perfect weather!
Wedding song, and the significance of the song:
“You” by Jesse Powell; the significance of choosing this was due to the very poignant lyrics and the clear declaration of love and devotion – we felt it embodied the gravity of a first dance. We also liked that it was a well-known, but enjoyable, throwback and not overly in use on the wedding circuit these days.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
We are looking forward to continuing to love, build, and deepen our friendship together as we take on new experiences and challenges. We’ve been in each other’s lives for 15 years, but together for only 8 of them – and 4 of those years were both of us in grad school. So one of the first things we are most excited to do is some more couples traveling; before adding any others (pets or babies) to the equation, we want to chase our travel and experience dreams together first!

Congratulations to the happy couple!
