A Royal Wedding in Columbia, SC

Nine years ago on August 12, 2012,  Crystal and Trevor’s love story officially began. Before they entered the world, Crystal and Trevor’s parents became friends via Bethlehem Baptist Church. Naturally, Crystal and Trevor became toddler friends too; they had play dates, attended each other’s birthday parties, and even have a photo of them holding hands at the zoo!

During the summer of 2012, Trevor opened up to Crystal about his feelings for her, and asked her to be his girlfriend. Over the next eight years they continued their long-distance relationship. In spite of it all, God kept them together in love.

On February 28, 2021, Trevor planned a trip for them in Hilton Head, SC, and following an intimate seafood dinner, he got down on one knee and asked Crystal to be his wife. See all of the gorgeous details from their wedding day captured by Bridal Suite member Wooten Photography

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day. Include your most memorable moment.

Crystal: I could not believe it was finally happening, it had been a long time coming! Despite this, I was actually calm all morning and early afternoon. My most memorable moment was riding to the ceremony with my father, walking down the aisle to my husband, and riding to the reception in the Rolls Royce with my newly married husband.

Trevor: Leading up to the ceremony I felt both excited and nervous with anticipation to finally marry the love of my life. My most memorable moment was watching Crystal walk down the aisle towards me as I stood at the altar. That was the moment I had been waiting so long for. It meant so much to have family and friends come from all over to celebrate this special occasion with us.

Wedding song, explain choice for song:

“You For Me” by Johnny Gill. When I listened to this song, the words resonated with me on so many levels, especially as a believer in Christ, and I wanted Trevor to feel like he could connect to the song as well.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

No longer having to leave each other! Our entire dating relationship, including our engagement, was long-distance. We spent 9 years saying goodbye to each other at the end of a great day or weekend, not always knowing exactly when we would see each other again. Of course, we look forward to ALL of the many joys that come with marriage, but this is the biggest for us.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

  • Take EVERYTHING in and be PRESENT because, like you will often hear, wedding day flies by. Even with our very early start and a very long day, it still managed to fly by. We often wish we could do it over and over again!
  • Hire a great photographer AND videographer if you can. You will not regret it because they will capture so many moments that you will miss!
  • Practice/walk through everything in your ceremony twice with everyone (to include any officiants) present, to ensure everyone is on the same page!
