Amore in Italy: A Romantic Tuscan ‘I Do’

Edwina and Windy’s love story was decades in the making—over 30 years, to be exact. Though they had known of each other for most of their lives through a mutual cousin, it wasn’t until recently that fate truly stepped in. Edwina is related to their cousin on her mother’s side, while Windy is connected through his father’s side—so no, they’re not related, despite the laughs that often follow the clarification!

After Edwina went through a difficult divorce and Windy experienced his own challenges in love, they both found themselves single. That same cousin, who had known them both so well for so long, made the bold suggestion: they’d be perfect for each other. And she was right. Taking a leap of faith, Edwina and Windy began a new chapter together. Now, after two and a half years of love, laughter, and growth, they continue to build a beautiful life as a husband and wife.

Wedding Theme/Motif/Inspiration: For the theme we wanted something clean, moody and timeless. We wanted the florals to provide some warmth and brightness as well. We used a lot of gemstone colors emerald, bright pink, and golds. We wanted an upscale floral wonderland.

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day.

Edwina: On the wedding day I felt at peace. At that point I felt like everything would fall into place as needed. I did not feel stressed at all, I was just so happy the day had come that I would finally be marrying the love of my life. All the planning and ideas were over, it was time to execute. We were finally becoming a family with the girls Xian and Umi. It was truly an amazing, unreal reality.

Widny: Felt ecstatic that day had finally arrived. He said he was thinking the entire day, so we pulled it off. He was thinking that he had finally found the one his soul had been longing for. He felt blissful and excited to start on the new journey of marriage. He was also looking forward to being a bonus dad to the girls he has grown to love as his own.

Wedding song, and the significance of the song:

“I Found Love” by Bebe and Cece Winans and “Pap Ka Separe” (Translation, You can’t separate) by Harmonik. We chose these songs because our hearts have finally found the love we had been looking for. Also the second song is one to represent our Haitian culture and that our love will never separate.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We are looking to cultivate a home filled with love, faith, gentleness and understanding. We want a home that touches everyone’s lives in a positive way when they visit.
