A Rustic Garden Wedding in Charlotte, NC

Larry and Kena first met when they were just in second grade, residing in Virginia. Kena had a significant crush on Larry, and coincidentally, she lived only two houses away from Larry’s best friend, Jounte. She would frequently spot Larry playing outside at Jounte’s place. However, Larry was distracted in his adventures with his best friend.

Several years later, Larry relocated to North Carolina, and during their high school years Kena also moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, and by sheer coincidence, they ended up attending the same high school. However, despite their proximity, there were no romantic sparks between them just yet.

The wedding theme was rustic and industrial, with a touch of garden. It featured abundant lush greenery and floral designs. Kena and Larry enamored with the venue, as it fulfilled their desire for a downtown atmosphere with its exposed brick walls. They aimed to create a city vibe for their guests. Additionally, they drew a lot of inspiration from Pinterest.

Honeymoon Destination:

Kena and Larry took a “mini-moon” back to Tybee Island in Savannah, Georgia where Larry proposed.

Briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how the both of you felt on your big day.

Kena and Larry’s wedding experience was truly memorable, filled with heartfelt moments and emotions. On their big day, Kena cherished a particular moment during the ceremony. It meant the world to her to have both her biological father and stepfather walk her down the aisle, each supporting her on either arm. This beautiful gesture symbolized her transition from a blended family background to now entering into a new blended family. It felt like a full circle moment, highlighting the significance of her journey.

Another deeply meaningful moment for Kena was when she delivered a heartfelt speech to Torrey at the altar. This gesture symbolized the beginning of a new chapter for their family, signifying the unity and love they were creating together.

For Larry, one of the standout moments was when he and Torrey got ready together. As Larry helped Torrey put on his jacket and fix his bow tie, they shared a special father-son bonding time. The first look, when Larry caught his first glimpse of Kena, held immense importance for him. It was a moment filled with anticipation, excitement, and love.

Jumping over the broom was a significant tradition for both Larry and Kena. It represented not only the creation of a lasting legacy but also the passing down of this tradition to their future children. It was a beautiful way to honor their heritage and ensure that their family’s traditions would continue for generations to come.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We’re most looking forward to romantic getaways and also traveling as a family of four with our new bundle of joy!
